Restaurant Review: Notch8, Vancouver

by

Here is my review on TripAdvisor for Notch8 in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Summary: Can’t recommend for people with special dietary needs.

Here’s what I said:

“We won’t eat here again”

After loving Griffin’s for several years, we were really excited about the do-over when Griffin’s turned into Notch8. The decor is different, which makes it interesting, and it has a fresh, modern look to it.

However, the food has been a dreadful disappointment for us both. Service has been slow at best and neglectful at worst, and our service staff have seemed overwhelmed by our special dietary needs, something that was never an issue in the old restaurant.

The final straw, after giving them a fourth try (wanted to give them shake-down time after opening the new restaurant) was when we went through both our allergies and sensitivities very carefully, multiple times, only to be served a dish that prominently featured my very worst allergen…after waiting for nearly an hour during what we had hoped would be a quick lunch. After waiting a long time yet again for another option, which was “meh,” we finally managed to get out and back to business. Later that afternoon, my husband experienced stomach pains and discomfort, so clearly they messed up something in his dish, too.

Four tries, all disappointing, is more than enough.

We won’t eat here again.
