Restaurant Review: YEW, Four Seasons, Vancouver

by

Summary:

We love it at YEW Seafood Restaurant in the Four Seasons, Vancouver, and regularly enjoy tasty meals that respect our special needs. However, it’s not quite as cheap as a burger at the drive-through…of course!

“Consistently good, even for someone with many allergies!”

We’ve eaten here many times as it’s convenient and consistently capable of navigating both of our rather tricky allergies and sensitivities without being painfully expensive.

We have to avoid, collectively speaking, corn, eggs, wheat, dairy, garlic, onions, and peppers, which gives many a chef a headache, but neither the service staff nor the kitchen has ever flinched at our special needs, and they have consistently (there’s that word again) served us nicely prepared, tasty meals.

Aside: If I had a nickel for every time a restaurant has taken the “lazy way out” and said, “Ok, I’ll bake you some plain chicken breast, and steam you some plain vegetables,” and then served something close to tasteless cardboard and certainly just as pretty-looking, we could go to Maui for a week! So this is not nothing, believe me.

Besides an enjoyable meal, it also has pleasant and attentive staff, good seats, and a not-to-noisy/clubby atmosphere, such that we can have a real conversation with each other.

It’s somewhere we go quite often…often enough that we’ve learned to book ahead to avoid disappointment when there’s a lot going on in town.

(Note: date noted is most recent, but we’ve gone for lunch and for dinner on many occasions.
